Dr Tony Cowan BDS MSc

Tony qualified from Manchester University in 1987, obtaining his MSc from the same university in 1991. He originally started the practice in 1989 when it was situated on Lightwood Road.

He has been involved in many research projects within both Manchester and Birmingham Universities, and to date is a co-author of 31 research papers, some of which he has presented at conferences both in the UK and abroad. Tony is also a founder member of the PREP Panel, a group of dentists who assess and report on new materials, equipment and techniques. His particular interests are Cosmetic dentistry and Implants. He is a member of the British Society of Oral Implantology.

Like Neil, Tony recently completed the Cerec masters course in Germany, having now placed over 900 Cerec restorations.

Tony is married to Margaret and they have five sons. He spends his spare time (when he has some) running, rowing, playing squash and listening to music.

Dr Neil Austin BDS

Neil is an experienced, forward thinking dentist, committed to providing high quality dental care for his patients. After graduating from Sheffield University in 1992 and completing a further years’ vocational training, Neil practised in Sheffield, Kingsbridge (South Devon) and Worksop before becoming a partner at Lightwood Dental Care in 2003. This has allowed him to acquire a broad experience on a wide variety of clinical techniques.

Wherever he has practised, he has been respected for his sensitivity, care and professionalism.

Neil has recently completed extensive training in Cerec cad/cam techniques and has a keen interest in endodontics. He has also completed advanced training in ‘Clearstep’ orthodontic technique.

He is married to Debs, has two sons and lives in Sheffield. He enjoys both playing the guitar and listening to music.
